I like Patty Griffin, but I don’t have any of her albums. Must do something about this. Also, I used to frequently have a bus driver in the afternoon who reminded me of Patty Griffin. Maybe it was just her red hair. It’s not like she sang to us while she was driving. Although if she sounded like Patty, I would have gladly listened. That bus driver is on my short list of favorite bus drivers, along with the driver who confided in me that she’s NOT a cyborg, and bus driver who keeps iced cinnamon rolls in that locked compartment by the door and gives them to his friends.

Oh, Metro drivers. Anyway, Patty Griffin…

Here in Seattle, Record Store Day is pretty popular, since music is a big deal, but I’d imagine lots of stores across the country are participating too.

I have not listened to this album, and in fact, I’ve never listened to any of his solo albums. But Pedro the Lion’s “Control” is one of my most favorite albums ever, so I have to assume Dave’s solo stuff isn’t too bad … though probably depressing.

I love The Broadway Grill in Capitol Hill for their delicious beef sliders during late night happy hour. Yesterday I discovered something even better: Broadway Grill now has happy hour all day every day.

All day every day!

Awesome sliders (although they now give you 2 sliders and a few fries instead of 3 sliders) and great drink deals – $2.50 for well drinks is impressive! They also have other $5 small plate specials, including dessert.

And Broadway Grill is only a couple blocks away from the Mystery Coke machine, so it’s a fun night all around!

If you’re thinking about attending Sasquatch (this year’s line-up is really good and I’d like to go for one day at least), there’s a deal you should know about.

Tickets go on sale Saturday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. Single-day tickets are $70 (if you wait until a few days before, it’s $80). But the best deal is that you can buy a 3-day pass for only $170! It’s only available through Sunday, Feb. 21 at midnight. Go here for more info.

The festival is May 29-31 at the Gorge.

Counting to ten – or at least eight – in Spanish has never been so fun! Ocho in Ballard is having a seriously cheap happy hour (at least for food).

• about a dozen menu items for $2 each
• $2 off house cocktails
• 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and noon to 6 p.m. on weekends.

That’s some cheap eats, even if it’s not a super deal on drinks.

What I can say is that Can’t Stop Moving is awesome. If you live in the Seattle area and you’re looking for movers, I highly recommend them. I got quotes from a few different moving companies around here, and theirs was the best. And not only were their prices good, but the guys were friendly and did a great job moving. The move only took 1 hour and 45 minutes! Aaaaawesome. Least painful move ever.

This weekend, Easy Street Records in West Seattle is having a CD & vinyl sidewalk sale. All used CDs on the sidewalk are $2 each or 3 for $5. All used vinyls are $1 each or 3 for $2.

I’ve been to Easy Street in Queen Anne many times, but I’ve never made it out to the West Seattle location. This needs to be remedied.

Did you know that The Stranger keeps an event calendar for food? It includes lots of specially priced events and other fun things – like World Nutella Day! Who knew? Some of the events are more on the fancy end of the spectrum but there are some deals thrown in there too. The next time you feel like heading out for dinner, check the calendar first!

This one’s for Seattle people…

This weekend, Dec. 5-6, is the Urban Craft Uprising winter show. Admission is free, and it’s at the Seattle Center Exhibition Hall. I’ve never been to one, but I’m intrigued:

Urban Craft Uprising was started in 2004 to showcase the work of independent crafters, artists and designers – to provide a unique, high quality, hand-crafted alternative to “big box” stores and mass produced goods.

You know what’s not cute? Waiting outside in the snow for 2 hours for a bus that might never come. Now that the weather is turning colder, you can’t help but be reminded of last year’s Snowpocalypse and the Metro debacle *shiver*.

This year Metro is trying to up their communication efforts. Here are a couple things to know:

• They’re implementing 70 emergency routes in the event of another storm. Click here to find your route.
• You can also sign up to get emails and texts for your specific routes and for general Metro alerts. I’m having faith that they will actually send out alerts.

There are also various services like onebusaway to track your bus, and I’ve heard there are iPhone apps as well.

Let’s hope this year’s winter weather is a little gentler.
